Hiking with my daughter on the Sweetwater Trail

Placerville, CA
Storm Valley Resort

Warm, sunny and green is not something we're used to when we're back home.  We are usually only home for the holidays at the end of the year which means cold, rainy/snowy and gray.  California is gorgeous in Spring before everything dries out.
Our usual backyard view.  This time it's a lovely green.
Our private pad with my brother's new rig next to us.  The flowers are just starting to bloom and the leaves are just starting to open.  It's a nice change from the colder, windier, drier past few weeks of Arizona.
It was so nice we took a walk down the bike trail nearby to find a geocache and loved all the bulbs planted along the way.

Our daughter, Kaylee has more time off this month so she invited me out for a hike and sushi after.

The Sweetwater Trail was down the hill and the temps actually were quite warm and a little humid.
Folsom Lake is very full compared to past years.

Butterflies are also enjoying the warm spring day.

One of the main reasons I don't like to hike these lower elevations is that poison oak and ticks are a bother.  There were many parts of the trail that we had to duck under or around it.

The Redbud was blooming.

Some interesting ferns and moss growing around all the stumps.

The Wild Iris were in full bloom as well.

It was a great hike and the sushi was tasty!  Thanks Kaylee!

We took a ride through the fairgrounds to see if they had made the dump area any safer.  If you didn't read about Steve's mishap when we left in January which resulted in a last minute trip to the ER, you can check it out HERE.  Well, at least they put some padding around those sharp areas.  They also paid our hospital bill.
Then it was on to the tire store for more boots for Hoss.  While we were mostly happy with the  Michelins that we switched to two years ago, this time Steve wanted to try something else. Besides, they lessened how long they will warranty them now.  Hankook All Terrain makes something with a little more aggressive tread that is warrantied to 50K.  Seems like there aren't many that last longer.  We don't do crazy off-road stuff, but we do like dirt roads.  Ok, maybe just a little crazy once in a while ;-)
On the way home we came across this little cutie in the parking lot.  A shortened VW Bus.

    1. Ya, what a buck 50 for some foam and tape? Ha! But safer, yes.

  2. Wonderful to see more water in Folsom!! Love the Wild Iris. You could toss that van in the back of the truck for extra run-around wheels :-)))
