10 Years on the Road!!

6/28/2023

10 Years! WOW!!

I can't believe it’s been 9 years since we sold the store, packed up and left our ranch in Placerville, CA and we’re starting our 10th year!  We have hiked & biked, kayaked & fished and explored all over the Lower 48 States.  Some several times.  I still have many years of trips planned.  Alaska finally coming up.  How much longer are we going to Fulltime?  As long as our health continues and we enjoy it.  We seriously cannot imagine living in one place right now.  I truly have a gypsy soul.

At some point we may buy a lot or some land.  Where?  Not sure.  No place has perfect weather year-round except maybe the Santa Barbara area but we have no desire to move back to California.  Yes, our family is there, but we don't care for the politics, taxes or traffic.  While we can't see them as much as we could if we lived there, we can visit as often as we want or need to.

We would most likely find a place to stay at for 4 - 6 months and continue to travel the rest of the time. Would we build?  Live in our 5th wheel and buy a smaller trailer?  Buy a Toyhauler and get a Razor?  It really would depend on our age/health once we get to that point.   I'm a Mountain Girl and it would have to have mountains, trees, lakes, rivers, trails and open land to explore off-road.  But I like variety too, so not too far from other scenery, climates and experiences.  Too many options to even get close to a decision right now.

Beside experiencing such beautiful country, we've met some very wonderful people along the way that we're happy to call friends.  We've also been able to spend extended time in Arizona helping aging parents and most recently, the last 2 years here in California, helping my parents.  Since my Dad just passed away a week ago, we're thankful that we have been here to do what we can.  We'll continue to stay here the rest of the year with shorts trips away while my Mom adjusts to life without our Dad.

Here's to 10 more!!

  1. So sorry to hear about your dad.
Congratulations on 10 years! We would have been 10 years this year as well. Instead we are celebrating 10 years of retirement. May you have many more years of adventures.
