Easter Eggs & Tiny Trains

Yreka, CA

Elks Lodge 

After leaving Oregon we arrived in Yreka for an overnight stay at their Elks Lodge.  Just your average camping behind the lodge.  We did go in for a drink then headed off to bed for an early start in the morning.  W/E/$20.  We didn't bother to even hookup. I forgot to get a picture.

Crossing the Bay, surprisingly traffic wasn't too bad.  From the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge you can see San Francisco through the fog.

Santa Clara, CA

Elks Lodge

We stopped at the Elks Lodge in Santa Clara as it borders San Jose, where I grew up, and I wanted to visit an old girlfriend.  W/E/$25, not the prettiest or best area.

We had dinner and a nice visit with Rooty and Debbie.  I've known Debbie since we were 2!

We grew up around the corner from each other.

The next day was Easter and we all met up in Santa Clara as it was in the middle of everyone.  This was Jaxon's first Easter Egg Hunt.  He caught on quickly!

"WOW" is all he kept saying!

Discovering the eggs opened and held Hot Wheels, pretzels and Fish Crackers.  More "WOWs"!

We spent the next few days having fun with Jaxon.  He can now say Papa and Nonna.  That's the sweetest sound!

We took him to a nearby Train Museum that I didn't even know was there.  Diana found it. It sits right next to the Cal-Train which runs through Silicon Valley to San Francisco.  When we heard the whistle of the big train coming we went outdoors so Jax could see it.  It's a double-decker commuter train.

I forgot how realistic these displays are!  The detail was amazing!

Very short.  Watch how even the gas station sign rotates!  I don't remember the ratio, but these are tiny.

Here's a scene with a plane dropping fire retardant on the mountains. Unfortunately, something we see often here in California.

There were ladders around so that the kids could see them up close. More "WOWs".

We loved the Trailer Park!

We weren't too crazy about staying at the Santa Clara Elks so when my friend, Debbie, suggested we stay at her parents, off we went!
