Lob-stah Time in Maine!

Bar Harbor, Maine
Timberland RV Park

After 3,277 miles, we made it to Maine!  We've spent time here before, but it was with our pop-up when the kids were very small.  This time we have bigger digs and we'll be meeting up with some of our favorite RV peeps, Curt and Glenda of Illinois Campers.

We're here at Timberland RV Park while we eat lobster and hike and eat lobster.  Did I say we'd be eating lobster?  Here we are next to each other.  Very long sites with plenty of room.

A very nice park.  We are in the larger pull through spots.  Not too green in our area, but the rest of the park is pretty.  $50 a night, FHU.  This is the most we've paid this year yet.  But then it is on the coast of Maine!
Our site, 218.

One of the other seasonal sites with a nice flower garden.

After we caught up a bit Curt and Steve were anxious to share some of the beer they have been saving for each other all year.  Don't ask me what it is though, Glenda and I don't like beer. Of course they ooed and awed over it.  Happy boys.

Curt & Glenda

The first order of business was to find a great local place for lobster!  We were told there were many "pounds" down by the water.  All are good but Glenda was told Trenton Bridge was really good.
Here are the wood burning stoves where the pots of lobster are cooked.

You choose your meal and what size lobster you want and in a pot it goes.  Below they are being hoisted up after a perfectly timed dunk.  Dinner time!

And here we are with our bibs and food.  Everyone loved theirs.  I'm not a big lobster fan though.  A lot of messy work and I guess I just don't appreciate the flavor.  I did enjoy it, but I more a steak gal.  Corn, green salad and potato salad.  Delicious!!

We drove around a bit and found a nice ice cream place to discuss our upcoming plans.  Since dreary weather was forecasted for the next day we decided we would take a drive to the far NE part of Maine and visit some lighthouses, Canada and maybe see a mouse.  The ice cream was great, but the Blueberry Pie was even better!  I'm not much of a sweets person as some of you may know, but I ate a lot of Blueberry Pie over the next couple of weeks!

Stay tuned for some dang pretty lighthouses next!
(wow, I think this was my shortest post ever)

  4. Now that's some lobsters!! I prefer crab, but a good lobster roll is hard to beat. Those are some huge sites for New England!

  5. We like lobster, but think it's overpriced for what you get. Yes, I know... it's more reasonable when you're right on the coast!

    1. Agreed. It's not as cheap as you'd think, but definitely cheaper than CA.

  7. We may just have to make a return trip to Maine to eat lobster!! I am a huge fan, but John feels like you. He isn't much for working hard for his food.

  8. We left Maine not long ago with a freezer full of wild blueberries and scallops. I agree with you about the lobster and prefer the scallops. Acadia is beautiful.

  9. Aw, this was an extremely nice post. Taking a few minutes and actual effort to generate a
great article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a whole lot and never manage to get nearly anything done.

    1. I've got a several more posts of our Maine excursions. Get ready to pay much more for camping. I could not find any suitable boondocking for our size that didn't have us out on bad roads (or practically in Canada). Other than a Cabela's or WM for a quick overnight. Prices were mostly in the $40s. Almost all parks wanted rabies info too.
