Sonoran Desert Preserve & Ren Faire

Cave Creek, AZ
Secret Location

We can't disclose the location of our campsite, but it was an interesting location.  A shooting range/campground combination.  Very cool.  While here I was able to meet up with Ingrid whose blog I have followed for quite a while.  It was so nice to meet her.  We decided to do a little hike at the nearby Sonoran Desert Preserve.  We combined a couple loops to make a nice hike.

Nice view looking back towards the parking lot.

Beautiful blooms just opening up.

The large trail is actually a paved trail for bikes that goes for miles and connects all
the nearby housing tracts.  Really cool.  If I had more time in this area I'd have my bike out.

Later on while we were camped out with Doug and Dotty we went to the Renaissance Fair.  Neither of us had been to one before so we thought it would be fun.  There is a permanent location here in Gold Canyon.  It's quite a big deal.

Many will dress up in period clothing.

Dotty looking cute in her new headband.

There were lots of displays and time period things going on.

Loved the music.

I liked the tree-guy building.

Steve and Doug doing the hatchet throwing.

Not bad!

Goofs!

All in all, it was a hot day, but fun!

  1. Tree guy was totally awesome! Steve looked a little too comfy with throwing that ax!

    1. I liked all the outfits everyone was dressed in. The turkey legs were pretty good too.

  3. We've never been to a Ren Faire either. It would be interesting to go to one. It doesn't look too crowded either.

    1. It was fun to go to once. Not really my thing but it was fun. It was very busy.
