Wench Creek Campground
Not counting the quick trip back from Michigan to California, this was our first official time out to enjoy being on the lake.
It's a beautiful lake that's only about an hour from us and we've hiked and kayaked in this area often. We knew the roads and campgrounds can be small, so we had our friends let us know how their rig fit before we left. It was tricky and we probably wouldn't bring it back there again. But we sure enjoyed the weekend. Our first time cooking and just thoroughly enjoying our time.
Summarized from Wikipedia:
Union Valley Reservoir is about 20 miles northeast of Placerville. The 277,000 acre feet at an elevation of 4,870 feet. It was formed in 1963 by the 453-foot high earth and rockfill Union Valley Dam on Silver Creek, which is a tributary of the American River. The reservoir is part of the Upper American River Project, a public electric utility, which operates the dam and many other dams in the area. It stores snow melt runoff during the spring and releases it during the summer when electrical demand is greatest to a chain of hydroelectric power plants downstream. The reservoir is fed by Big Silver Creek, Jones Fork Silver Creek, Tells Creek, Wench Creek and the outflows of Robbs Peak and Jones Fork powerhouses.

I'm not sure we'll be out again until we head out end of June. We still have a lot to do to get this house on the market and sold. Our daughter also graduates in the middle of June. Last of four :-) And as soon as the house/ranch sells, we are on our way fulltime!
Looks like a great place for your first outing. Sure beats what we have in IL. Beautiful landscape.
ReplyDeleteIt was very nice, but too short! I don't think we'll be out again until July. Hopefully we get the house on the market in a few days.
DeleteThe end of June will be here before you know it. Nice first outint!
ReplyDeleteThanks! We can't wait to be out there with the rest of you!
DeleteLooks like a beautiful place for your first time out. You'll be so busy getting stuff done the end of June will be here before you know it.
ReplyDeleteI know you're right, but since we've been back with the trailer, it's like we're living in between two worlds. Very strange.
DeleteHi Debbie, Thanks for reading my blog!
ReplyDeleteThis last phase before your house sells is scary and intense isn't it! I hope you like your Montana as much as we like ours.
You mentioned you'd be in Tacoma on June 29th...we will be heading into WA after the 4th (we'll be in Portland that week). We'll be in Toutle River area on 6/7, then Auburn, WA (just outside Sea/Tac) on 6/11, then Port Townsend 6/15, then Sequim for a month starting 6/22. If you'll be in any of those areas at the same time perhaps our paths will cross.
Metamorphosis Lisa
All of those dates should be July not June!!!!
DeleteHi Lisa, this is the most exhausting time, for sure! I can't wait for it to end! We will spend the 28th at the 7 Feathers Casino, then head to Dash Point State Park for a couple days, then the week of the 4th near Hoodsport for a friend/family reunion. Then we are 99% sure our fulltime adventure will begin and we'll head towards SD. There is the slightest chance we'll have to head back to CA until Aug, but won't know until the last minute. But if we do cross, I'll let ya know!
